Out of Office and It’s Okay

Today I’m starting my a little over a week vacation. I’m not working two jobs for the next 10 days. Yep, I said it. No full-time responsibilities and no photography responsibilities. Me, myself, and I are enjoying PTO, and it’s going to be okay.

I’m not sure how we arrived at today. There is this notion we should be connected to our “work” all times of the day to get ahead. We travel to work when we’re well, sick, and mentally unstable. There doesn’t seem to be a space to rest. Never thought I would quote my mother, but you must make time for yourself. She always says, “You’ll be dead and gone, and the world will keep spinning.”

And it’s true. We’re here for a limited time, and you must ask yourself, “what do you want to do with this time?” I want to soak up the sunshine with my husband, collect as many hugs from my nieces and nephews, and laugh until my belly hurts with friends. Hear me clearly: make time for yourself. There is only one you, and we must reset our bodies and minds consistently.

I will have a camera in tow! What would my life be without it? What about you? How often do you carve out time for yourself?
