A Senior Summer Breeze with Anika

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

I know at the moment of commitment, the universe does conspire to assist you. I know this because when we arrived for this young lady's senior session, everything fell in place. The sun became brighter. The wind picked up to move her hair. The heat took a break for a hot Texas minute. Yes, the universe decided to be the best partner for Anika G.'s senior cap and gown session.

What we enjoy the most about every photo session is learning more about the person being photographed. We are more than our images. So, we asked Anika a few questions about herself.

Anika, tell us about you as a high school student? Were you active in any clubs or sports?

"Throughout high school, I participated in many fine arts activities. I was in the band for the first half of high school and was in varsity choir all four years. During my freshman musical, I worked in the crew, and I was a part of the cast for our senior musical. I went to solo and ensemble for choir and made it to state, which was unfortunately canceled due to COVID-19."

That's impressive. It's a bummer the event was canceled, but we hope your music career continues. It's the summer, and we're out here capturing the very best angles of you! What's the plan for the future?

"After high school, I will be attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and will be majoring in social work. When I graduate from college, I hope to work in the area of immigration reform and/or play a part in the fight against human trafficking."

Whoa. Thank you for taking on a serious issue, such as human trafficking. It's happening far more than we know or care to realize. We need more young people like yourself to bring awareness. We know every person has a few other fun details…what are some exciting details about you?

"I love to create, whether it's through art, jewelry, or experimenting with make-up looks."

Yes! We knew there was a creative in our midst when you decided on the red lip! Anika, thank you for sharing more about yourself with the G Photography community and us. We wish you all the best!

For Anika's cap and gown session, we decided on the quintessential senior summer vibe. She found the best white summer dress, and Rachel Joseph, our make-up artist, created a fresh summer face. We're sharing just a few of Anika's images. If you're ready to have the universe conspire to assist you, send us a note: book a session.
